A 0–100 composite index. Transparent weighted average of five sub-scores derived live from public sources (PubMed publication volume, agency headlines, curated sector taxonomy). No proprietary black box — the weights below are the whole formula.
- 20%Scientific Readiness— 12-month PubMed publication depth for the topic. Higher = deeper, more replicated evidence base.
- 25%Commercial Potential— Signal density plus sector pull (e.g. Space Pharma boost). Higher = stronger near-term revenue case.
- 20%Investment Readiness— Derived from commercial pull — how ready the category is to absorb capital today.
- 20%Reentry Dependency— How much value capture depends on returning payloads to Earth (crystals, cells, fibers, APIs).
- 15%Regulatory Ease— Inverse of FDA / ITAR / FAA-AST friction — the score penalises complex approvals.
